Ted W. Walters, CPL
President and Founder
With TWW Since 1992
Ted W. Walters is the Founder and President of Ted W. Walters & Associates. When the company was founded in 1992, Ted was one of only two landmen. At that time, he worked as a field landman and project manager. In recent years, the company has consistently contracted between 150 and 200 landmen, and Ted has evolved into more of a business development and leadership role.
Ted has grown his business with an eye toward building an organization that will continue to thrive long after he has moved on. He’s accomplishing that goal by creating a mentoring environment and providing the infrastructure that empowers the people who work with him. Always an advocate of pushing decision-making down into the organization, Ted allows his teams the autonomy to act and deliver as they see fit, and all of his crews adhere to the TWW mission statement. This allows Ted to provide direction based on ideals vs. micromanaging daily tasks.
The Associates at TWW are also able to leverage Ted’s 40+ years in the industry, where he has worked in almost every facet of the oil and gas business. Beginning his career in 1974, Ted worked as an independent contract landman, an in-house Land Manager, Vice President of a pipeline company, and founder and President of an exploration company, all prior to founding TWW. In the ensuing years, Ted has put together drilling deals and sold them to investors, and he personally invests with several companies or geologists as a Working Interest owner. Ted’s wide range of experience gives him a unique perspective in the brokerage business, and he imparts that knowledge to his Associates. TWW clients appreciate Ted’s unique understanding of their needs as they acquire projects and drill them, from leasing to post-production.
A native of Texas, Ted enjoys the outdoors and resides in Tyler with his wife, Chesley.
